What does the Body Composition Challenge consist of?


This is a 5-week exercise and nutrition challenge, focusing on changes based on the 4 Pillars of Health (Nutrition, Movement, Recovery, and Community).  Instead of inaccurate scales and measuring methods, you will take an InBody assessment at the beginning and end of the Challenge, receiving a printout that shows your Lean Muscle Mass, Body Fat Percentage, recommendations for both, and much more!  The InBody scale allows for the most accurate readings for this type of technology – this goes wayyyyy beyond your doctor’s scale.

You will work out at least 3x per week, establishing a healthy habit of regular training, performing exercises that the human body needs to perform to achieve long-lasting body composition changes (think INCHES LOST and TONE GAINED)… and health! As for the nutritional element…


What type of foods does this way of eating consist of?


Unprocessed ones!  These 5 weeks will be grain-free and sugar-free (no added sugar). Focus instead on meats and (lots of) vegetables, some fruit, little starch, and some nuts and seeds, all unprocessed, “real” and nutrient dense foods.  We have loads of guides to help you learn healthier ways of eating.  When shopping, simply stay out the bakery and the aisles, focusing on the perimeter of the store.  We suggest that you keep meals simple, and send in pictures of meals to our Body Composition Facebook group to help motivate yourself and others in the Challenge!


What type of people is the InBody Challenge designed for?


Anyone who wants to lose fat, be healthier and have more energy for themselves, their family, and their life in general – we are thinking about the short AND long term here.  This is about learning new ways for you to take care of YOU, and we’ll be there every step of the way.


Do I have to buy shakes, organic food, or any other hidden supplements?


No. We definitely have recommendations for those that are interested in supplements, and they can be very helpful to many people, but no additional purchases are required beyond the recommended foods that are approved in the program.  You may choose to purchase meals from the local chefs that we work with OR from online meal services if you would like some help getting started.


Won't I just gain weight back after the Challenge?


Quite the opposite! You should continue to progress as long as you continue eating a majority of healthy foods and work out beyond the Challenge.  If you gain any weight back (holidays, weddings, Mardi Gras... it happens!), don’t stress out!  We don’t need to be “perfect,” and healthy eating is a journey, not a sprint.  Just re-dedicate yourself to the principles taught and practiced in the Challenge until they are a part of your lifestyle, starting with your next meal.  It gets EASIER to avoid unhealthy foods (processed and nutrient poor) the longer you eat a majority of the healthy ones.


Additionally, joining CrossFit Houma following the Challenge ensures continual access to training in a motivational atmosphere with the expertise of our coaches who LOVE to see you succeed!  Throughout the Challenge we will additionally work on the 4 Pillars of Health as a lifelong blueprint: we are human and should strive for progress, not perfection.


What if I’m “too” deconditioned, heavy, have never worked out before, know nothing about nutrition, etc.?


Then you’re in EXACTLY the right place!  All of our coaches have undergone transformations in their journeys. We have worked with clients 5-92 years old, from athletes to those who have NEVER been in a gym before, from expecting mothers to those who have had numerous children and want to be.  We work with beginners EVERY DAY and have done so for over 11 years. Invest in your health with us – YOU ARE WORTH IT!
